Meet Our Board

Sheila Harley

Sheila Harley is a licensed social worker with a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University, with an emphasis on mental health. She did post-graduate training at The Ackerman Institute for the Family. Sheila earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from UC Berkeley and, prior to going into social work pursued an early career in design and architecture for ten years in San Francisco.  She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and is a trustee of the Mary McDowell Friend’s School, a school that serves children with learning disabilities, aged 5-18. Driven by her passion for family and desire to support families with special needs, Sheila co-founded Family Central, a practice based in New York City that focuses on providing support to families faced with educational, health and mental health challenges.  Sheila is married and has three children. She and her son worked at the Mainsprings campus in Tanzania last summer.
