Meet Our Board

Karl Ahlgren

Karl Ahlgren served as chief of staff from 2013 to 2017 for then U.S. Congressman and now U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin. He also served as chief of staff to U.S. Congressman (and former U.S. Senator) Tom Coburn between 1994 and 2000, and as field director to former U.S. Senator Don Nickles for ten years prior. In his congressional duties, Karl was widely recognized for his ability to work with both parties to assist rural communities in northern and southeastern Oklahoma. In 2010 Ahlgren served two terms as co-secretary of the Oklahoma State Senate.
For over 30 years Ahlgren has been actively involved in overseas missions in Russia, France, Guatemala, Tanzania, Lebanon and Ukraine.
In 2017 he traveled to the Mainsprings Campus in Kitongo, TZ for the first time. After visiting with staff he helped raise over $30,000 to grow oyster mushrooms on both campuses. In 2023 Ahlgren once again visited the Mainsprings Campus. The staff had set their sights on establishing a fish hatchery on Lake Victoria. Ahlgren helped raise over $65,000 and the fish hatchery is set to be operational in the 2024.
When he’s not traveling the world Karl is still running. Completing a marathon on all seven continents in 2015 and a half-marathon on all seven continents in 2022, makes him only the seventh person to ever do so.
